bungi II

...yes of course bungi, you can use it as your profile picture :) ...anyway, thanks for asking. i had the idea myself to write choconet and use it for qui es-tu? but for now i decided to take a real picture of me... i'm sure i'll change it soon to something else.

two options
(i recreated it and changed the initial letter into a capital letter)
...hope you like it that way

bulls run in spain

i like traditions. that is just something, i cannot understand.

"They don't know what they're doing; bulls can kill," said Ruben Munoz, 24, from Madrid, who has run with the bulls during each of the last five years. "I do it for the adrenaline and because I feel liberated." (source: cnn).
aha. *bigquestionmarkinmyhead* do you feel liberated with bulls behind you who might kill you? i don't see where the fun is torturing animals. and the 10,000 spectators are not better - they're waiting for the first person who gets gored (a few hours ago it was an australian man).
today was the first day of the "festival" and already more thn 100 people were injured. since 1924 13 people have died. i don't want to know how many have been injured during that time and how many bulls were killed. stupid tradition.

more links

angie gave me the idea that you could tell me more labels/designers (and link it, if possible) that you like or which are similar to my favourites. thank you.

german design

i'm also fond of the german home designs e.g. by siemens, wmf and asa (most of my dishes are from asa).

cozy

not to forget all those cushions, tablerunners, bedclothes e.g. by södahl.

scandinavian design

i have a preference for scandinavian design.

"pingu design" *g* i love e.g. the products of golla, stelton or iittala. scandinavian home design is just the best. ikea is another story.

7 things

long, long ago (feels like years) i was tagged by tina (i didn't forget you) to write down 7 things about me. i've seen it in other blogs with 10 things or even 100 things but 7 is alright.
here we go:
- i love chocolate ok, you should know that by now
- australia and antarctica are the continents i haven't travelled to yet
- i never take cold showers
- i wear contact lenses, i'm nearly blind
- i have no tv - can you believe that? i might be the only household in germany with no tv
- i'd like to learn an asian language (japanese or chinese)
- i nearly never go to bed before midnight
- i've never ironed my own clothes before - only for other people

i've seen it in nearly all blogs, but (if my memory doesn't fail me) not in sarawu's blog. sarawu, you're tagged!

the colours of my balcony

are predominantly white, blue and green. here and here you had a first insight into my balcony and now i'd like to show you something else. in my opinion, it's typically german to have red geranium in your balcony boxes. i so think that this is rather old-fashioned that's why i planted e.g. forget-me-not (funny, if you translate it into german it means the same "vergissmeinnicht").

before
(a poor little buxus sempervirens)

after
(a still small but more majestic buxus)

[edit]: googelt weiß, blau, grün (white, blue, green) and found this german homepage which says that white, blue, green in that order means honesty. :)

too good

my belly is filled with popcorn after watching ocean's thirteen but before i go offline (because of all the lightnings outside) i'd like to show you the solution to my question.
thanks for all the responses. you guys are sooooo good. yes, it's a box for keeping your banana safe when you're at work or somewhere else so that it doesn't get squashed.

well stacy, it's also a suitable form for a phone. let's suggest it to some designers!
and beaman, yeah, a toy for monkeys would also be possible.

*grumble*

i love animals and i'd like to have a dog if i would live in a house in the countryside. but
a) i have no money for a dog
b) i live in a flat
c) i live in a city
and i just hate it when all green areas in the city, which are actually for the stressed city-people, are full with dog sh*. ok, accept it.

i can understand elderly people who have lost their partner and want somebody to live with them. they buy a dog. ok, accept it.
now my neighbours bought a dog (they are young!) although it's forbidden in our flats to have a dog. ok, accept it.
that dog is still so small that he sometimes comes through the small chink which is between our balconies. ok, accept it.
but today he came through the chink again and sh* on our balcony! not ok!
why can't those ignorant affluent-industrialized-nation-people (i am including myself here) put their money into something else than a dog? with that money they could feed a child somewhere else...

kindertag

today is "kindertag" meaning "children's day". and as somehow everyone is a child, all of us can celebrate it.
so happy children's day to all of you!

did you know that turkey was the first country to introduce such a day in 1920 (under the rule of atatürk)?

well, anyhow there should be a children's day in every country:

- in china + the usa it's also the 1st june
- in brasil: 12th october
- in india: 14th november
- in south korea and japan: 5th may
- in turkey: 23rd april
and the other countries? let me know if you have additional information, i would be interested in that.
and children (independent of age) - don't forget to eat lots of chocolate (e.g. the german kinder chocolate which i think is available all over the world).

or rather don't buy chocolate and instead donate the money to suffering children in poor countries!

alles gute zum heutigen kindertag allen kleinen und großen kindern!

mörike's spring

this is a popular german spring poem by eduard mörike.
"spring, yes, it's you!"

miss universe

no, the title does not refer to the picture! this post is just a foretaste of what will come in one of the next posts cos I was tagged by stine in the early morning today to write down my favourite restaurants/meals. the photo just shows me with a packet of cake from the bakery to make all those thin girls jealous what they miss out! all those yummy calories…ok, i’m young and it’s easy for me to talk like that, maybe in a few years this will be different…

to come back to the cake, this is what i bought for my afternoon tea today:
-"Bienenstich" - "honeybee-sting" (on top carmelised with butter-sugar-almonds)
-an ordinary strawberry-cream-cake
-and the last one is "Donauwelle" with sour cherries - "donau" is a river in germany and "welle" means wave. look at the photo and you'll understand it.
…and of course, choconet eats all this with a hot chocolate!

do you have any of those cakes in your country?

the new miss universe is from japan. not that I’m interested in those miss things but who I admire is the lady from sweden who said “no, I’m not gonna walk out in this bikini and quit” (anyway, probably just pr) and who I admire even more is the lady from tansania who got the shortest haircut ever… and to declare my solidarity with her, I’ll go to a hairdresser this week and…well … photos will follow… you little curious bloggers!

why do all those "misses" have long hair?????

planless

technically i have to do a presentation but practically i'm not in the mood for it.

then i decided to go out playing volleyball but the weather upset my plan and i had to rearrange it. so i did what i always do when being purposeless - going out for dinner.
now i'm home again and still not in the mood for work. solution: watching videos.

shuttle launch

last year in september i've been to the kennedy space center in florida, usa. and now i'd like to go there again to ride this new attraction.

my first wordless wednesday

this sculpture by henry moore in the dutch hoge veluwe national park reminded me of the english yorkshire sculpture park (i've been there twice so far and i will definitely go there again), where all sculptures are created by henry moore. should you visit england accidentally (or intentionally) one day, visit this park - it's worth it and FREE!
well, this post is not completely wordless but was created for wordless wednesday
