nonreflective consumer society?

watched an austrian film about food at the cinema today. actually, it was a documentary (my 2nd documentary about food after "super size me") called "our daily bread" without comments. it showed an appalling picture of our modern food production and consumer society: monotonous assembly belt production, penned up chickens and beef... sorry, cows which were maltreated with cartidge hammers - everything in a very sterile environment. on the other hand, they showed the mass production of fruits and vegetables with lots of fertilizers. it wasn't scandalising but still a film to think about your eating habits.
the film was supported by (among others)
“Devastating! A must-see!" The New York Times
